Rockville, Maryland (November 3, 2016) – Thousands are expected to attend Rockville Town Square’s celebration of A Season of Giving on Nov. 19 highlighted by a 20-foot interactive holiday tree, live entertainment and the opportunity for the community to give back to those in need.

The event is scheduled from 5:30- 8 p.m. to kick-off the holiday season and launch the Square’s new interactive tree light show- built exclusively for the Square as it marks its 10th holiday celebration.  NBC 4 Washington’s traffic reporter Melissa Mollet will emcee the event. Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton is scheduled to officially “light” the holiday tree.

The public is encouraged to bring a new or gently-worn coat and new and unwrapped toys to benefit the National Center for Children and Families. The nonprofit assists more than 1,750 families each year to create total, healthy living environments for vulnerable children, youth and families, and enhance the quality of life which empowers their ability to thrive and demonstrate responsibility.

Manna Food Center, Montgomery County’s largest food bank, will be accepting canned food donations at the event as well. Anyone who donates these items during the event will earn a ticket for a free turn in the photo booth.

Rockville Town Square merchants will be offering specials and promotions with a portion of proceeds benefitting Manna and NCCF.

Kids are invited to make a craft sponsored by VisArts and the public can write letters to our Troops throughout the evening with the help of Operation Gratitude.
